This published article in the SAE International Journal of Sustainable Transportation, Energy, Environment, & Policy by Brandie Sebastian and Russ Balzer analyzes how high-pressure die-cast (HPDC) aluminum castings compare to steel-intensive parts from a life cycle inventory perspective. It presents results from both a literature review and gate-to-gate life cycle inventory of stamped steel and large die cast aluminum parts in terms of global warming potential and cumulative energy demand.
